Founded in 1993 and based in Reading, Berkshire, the College has grown rapidly to become one of the largest colleges of acupuncture in the UK. Our weekend and weekday acupuncture programme is designed for mature students.   It is fully accredited by the BAAB and validated as a BSc(Hons) degree by Kingston University.  We offer a unique education in the art and science of acupuncture and integrate Five Element acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, the two main styles taught in the UK. We also offer an MSc in Chinese herbal medicine and an MSc. by Learning Agreement (both subject to validation in 2008).   We have an ongoing programme of Continuing Professional Development for practitioners.  The College clinic, based within our two beautiful Georgian buildings, is open to the public.  Further details about the College and our introductory afternoons can be found on our website.

CTA is one of Europe's most established acupuncture colleges. Established in the 1960s by JR Worsley, it now operates from a tranquil setting at Haseley Manor in Warwick in the UK, and offers a BA in Traditional Acupuncture, validated by Oxford Brookes University and accredited by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board. The college's approach to teaching and practice is inclusive and arises from the classical origin of our medicine in the context of its contemporary application. CTA's post-graduate programme is now offering an accessible and flexible MA in Traditional Acupuncture for acupuncturists with two years of experience in practice, and who wish to explore some of the themes of mastery, from a western academic as well as a traditional medicines perspective. The MA offers the opportunity to develop specific areas of interest and expertise with certain patient groups as well as the more generic professional skills demanded of a traditional acupuncturist.

Established in 1972, the International College of Oriental Medicine is one of the longest established acupuncture colleges in the UK. The three year course, a BSc (Hons) degree in Oriental Medicine-Acupuncture, is validated by the University of Greenwich. The College is accredited by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB) allowing graduate eligibility to the British Acupuncture Council for professional registration and membership. ICOM students receive comprehensive training in a range of classical and contemporary acupuncture approaches (including Five Elements and TCM) and a thorough grounding in the classics of Chinese Medicine and Philosophy, uniquely including the extraordinary philosophy of Stems & Branches (not taught at BSc level anywhere else in the UK). Much emphasis is placed on clinical training and there is a full time integrated teaching clinic on-site. Classes are held on weekdays (September - May). Class sizes are small. Full and part time study options are available. Set in an historic building in East Grinstead, West Sussex, the College is only an hour away from London.

The BSc(Hons) Traditional Chinese Medicine at Middlesex University is the only accredited degree programme in the UK offering integrated teaching in Acupuncture and Moxibustion and Chinese Herbal Medicine and was developed in partnership with Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (4 years full time or 6 years part time).  The course is accredited by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board and the European Herbal Practitioners Association Accreditation.  Students undertake three broad themes of study; Western medical sciences, Chinese Medicine (Chinese Herbal Medicine with Acupuncture and Moxibustion) and research methods and evidence-based practice.  There is a strong emphasis on clinical training and this is undertaken at the Asanté Academy of Chinese Medicine, located at the Archway Campus of the University.  The Asante also provides acupuncture clinics within the NHS and students are able to gain valuable practice experience under supervision in these settings.

Founded in 1988 and based in a lovely Georgian building in the centre of York, we are an independent educational charity at the forefront of education and research in acupuncture and Chinese medicine in the UK. We offer a week-end based three year MSc / professional Diploma in Acupuncture validated by the University of Wales and fully accredited by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board, with a BSc in Acupuncture in development for 2008. The course reflects the rich diversity of oriental medicine but is founded on the systematic approach to Chinese medicine used in modern China. The BSc (Hons) Acupuncture is featured by its excellent clinical training, which is carried out in the University’s Complementary Medicine Clinic and off-campus NHS clinics. The Complementary Medicine Clinic is equipped with the most advanced teaching facilities including the wireless internet connection for all students, the broadcasted consultation and treatment systems, the smart board system and lots more. In the past, on average, every graduates had finished more than 80 treatment sessions individually on real patients. Our graduates gained awards for best graduates in the past three years. The course also offers out of syllabus seminars with well-know Chinese medicine practitioners on varies interesting topics.

The Acupuncture programme at Salford University is to provide a well supported, BAAB accredited 3 year full time; 4-6 year part time undergraduate science honours degree in acupuncture.
The programme aims to provide an informed and research minded, critical understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The course is a combined route of personal and professional development, for creating skilled independent and self reflective acupuncture practitioners.
In addition to a friendly environment for learning, the university has an excellent purpose built Clinic for the students to observe treatment and practise acupuncture. Graduates from the programme have a chance to visit China and work independently in the graduate clinic at the university.

This BSc (Hons) Traditional Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture is a 3 year full-time course (5 or 6 years part time). Our focus is the professional education of competent and caring practitioner/research members of the Chinese medical tradition. Theoretical understanding, practical skills and attitudinal development are integrated through extensive supervised clinical observation and practice in our busy on-site clinic in central London. There are placements in the National Health Service to broaden your work perspectives and support in setting up and managing your own practice. You will learn core health sciences and practitioner skills with subject specialists and students from the School’s other complementary medicine courses. The University of East London is a vibrant, culturally diverse, modern university, set in the heart of the Olympic regeneration of East London. We offer a BSc in Acupuncture, studied either full or part time in the School of Health and Bioscience. Our programme provides a rigorous foundation in western medical skills utilizing the expertise and resources of our colleagues in conventional medicine. The study of Acupuncture includes the philosophy, history, chinese language, QiGong and a chance to contribute to topical debates regarding the integration of chinese medicine into mainstream health care. Most acupuncturists still wish to develop and run their own business, UEL will equip you with the necessary entrepreneurial skills to achieve your goals and you can take advantage of the paid opportunities to work in the reception of the UEL Community Acupuncture Clinic where supervised clinical training takes place. CNM offers Naturopathic-orientated part-time training for an Acupuncture diploma. The diploma offered in London is accredited to Stage Two by the BAAB. CNM has now begun offering the diploma in Bristol, and is working towards accreditation for this site too. Besides an in-depth and hands-on knowledge in Acupuncture, CNM Acupuncture graduates are able to advise their patients on nutrition and lifestyle and first aid homeopathic remedies. Our close-knit team of friendly and dedicated lecturers facilitate students self-development. CNM graduates are eligible to further their training with a Bachelor of Health Science Degree in Complementary Medicine by distance learning, or can opt to study further in China.
