Initial contact with the Board:

Petra Nannes

Petra Nannes is an acupuncturist and works for the Board two days a week. Petra deals with the Board agenda, papers and minutes, manages the Boards financial record keeping, and ensures that the Board meets the requirements of Companies House.

   

Pippa Sequeira is an acupuncturist and also works for the Board two days a week. Pippa deals with the Accreditation Committee agenda, papers and minutes, updates the website, and has most contact with the teaching institutions.

   

Petra and Pippa both work from home one day a week and at the Board’s office one day a week. All other officers work from home.

   

Accreditation Officers (AOs):

Accreditation Officers work with specific teaching institutions, dealing with any queries, commenting on draft papers, organising and undertaking visits, both annually and for accreditation purposes, and drafting responses on behalf of the Accreditation Committee to any submitted documentation or visit undertaken.

We currently have three AOs:

Roger Hill

Roger Hill is a retired acupuncturist who practised for over 30 years.  He was co-Founder/Director of the Centre for Complementary Health Studies at the University of Exeter.  He has also served as Chairman of the Lay Panel of the College of Optometrists and been a member of its Council and academic and research committees.

   
Allen Parrott


Allen Parrott is an adult educationist who was Dean of Adult and Community Education at Yeovil College and a lecturer in the School of Education at Exeter University.  As well as his work for the Board, he is currently working as an educational adviser for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery in the NHS.

Alison Gould is an experienced acupuncture practitioner who was Clinical Director for the Northern College of Acupuncture from 1999 to 2008. She was previously course co-ordinator at the Centre for Complementary Health Studies at the University of Exeter, and has published widely in complementary therapy journals.

 

The Chair of the Board

Rita Lewis
Rita Lewis sits on disciplinary panels for the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. She is also member of the BAcC Ethics Policy Committee. Before becoming the Chair of the Board, Rita served as a member representing a public interest.

Norma

Dr Norma Morris has a background in biomedical research management and science policy. She was a founder member and first Chairman of the General Chiropractic Council from 1997, when it was still a 'shadow' body, to 2003. She is currently a Research Fellow in the Department of Science& Technology Studies at University College London and sits as the lay member of the Board.


Board Advisor

Ruth Champion

Ruth Champion has worked with the Board for 10 years and co-ordinated Board activities and liaised with both BAcC and with the Council of Heads of Acupuncture Courses (CHAC). Ruth chaired the Accreditation Committee till December 2008. Ruth now advises the Board

 

Treasurer and Financial & Legal Advisor

Dan Regan


Dan Regan
was the Chief Executive and Director of Finance of a London borough. He is a Member of the Bar and of the Chartered Institute of Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA). He holds a number of chairmanships and advisory positions for voluntary organisations. He advises the Board on all legal and financial issues.
